WWE Basically Fixed Tough Enough Before The Show Even Started, Should We Be Outraged? When WWE brought back Tough Enough, the idea was to try and build the wrestling brand with a new-old concept that worked at one time. This new incarnation was fairly successful. The wrestlers on the show weren’t great, not that you would expect them to be, but Steve Austin was great, and the show was at worst watchable. But Andy Leavine, the man who won the competition, was practically booked to win the competition. From WrestlingObserver.com: (Luke) Robinson was the standout wrestler in the ring during the competition, but Leavine won because of a number of reasons, the biggest that he was simply the bigger man. Leavine played college football at 6-5 and 292 pounds, and had trimmed to 270 for agility, and was in very good shape at the weight. Plus, he also had the advantage of already being signed by the company and thus not having the indie worker label. Must Read: Power Ranking The 10 Hottest WWE Divas Of All-Time Vince McMahon has certain things that he looks for in people that work for him, and if you don’t meet the criteria you will be buried or fired before your career gets started. I would like to think that at some point that mentality would change, especially when smaller, more athletic guys like Shawn Michaels, Bret Hart, Mr. Perfect, etc. all had great careers with the company. But we all know better than that by now. No, McMahon doesn’t want athletes. He wants people like Great Khali, Mason Ryan, Big Show, etc. who can’t do anything in the ring but are really, really big. I guess the good news is that, at least based on the angle that Leavine did on Raw, he won’t be around long enough to get any real criticism for his performance in the ring.
