 As if dealing with injuries to 1B Ike Davis and 3B David Wright weren't enough, the most recent news of Johan Santana's shoulder discomfort places yet another burden on the New York Mets organization.
According to FanFeedr.com, Johan Santana has slowed his rehabilitation process because of soreness he was experiencing in his surgically-repaired left shoulder. He began feeling discomfort back on June 3, but has yet to visit a doctor for evaluation. Santana has been limited to strictly long tossing at the team's training facility in Port St. Lucie, Fl. He is scheduled to begin pitching from a mound later this week. Despite the halt in Santana's rehab process, Mets general manager Sandy Alderson continues to remain optimistic about his ace. “He’s progressed extremely well,” Alderson said. “But once the intensity cranks up, it wouldn’t be surprising that there would be some soreness.” Here are tonight's starting lineups as big Pelf and the Mets close out their series against Paul Maholm and the Pirates: Mets 1.
