NBA Finals 2011 Will Test Dallas Mavericks Center Tyson Chandler Tyson Chandler is arguably one of the best pickups of the NBA offseason. The Dallas Mavericks big man does all the things that don't necessarily show up on the stat shat all the time. This year he's averaged 10.1 points, 9.4 rebounds and one block per game in the regular season. His postseason scoring is a bit down from that (7.8 ppg), but that also comes from Dirk's increased offensive production. Chandler truly does everything including himself in trouble from time to time with fouls. Must Read: Best and Worst Bobble Heads in Sports The 7'1" defensive anchor is a fiery and emotional player that can sometimes get carried away with this intensity. This series will be heated from the first tip and he has to be careful with how he handles everything because he is too important to this Mavericks team to be on the bench. Jeff Caplan covers the Mavericks for ESPN and writes: Chandler rides his emotions on the floor, and there’s nothing wrong that as long as he keeps his emotions in check and doesn’t hurt the team. In the West finals, Chandler found himself becoming frustrated with foul trouble -- he got called for 20 in the five games and fouled out of Game 5.
He's already got four technical fouls (originally had six but two were rescinded) in the postseason and will face a one-game suspension if he gets up to seven. The Mavericks hope he doesn't come close to that number and keeps himself on the court for as long as possible. He is going to spend a ton of time "battling" with Chris Bosh (whether Bosh can truly battle is up for debate) but Chandler will be expected to neutralize him for the series. Tyson Chandler is a big part of this series whether on or off the court and the Mavericks hope that he will be on.
