Madden 12 Lights Up E3 with Vince Lombardi's Inspiration
Thursday, 09 June 2011

With Madden 12 finally looking to get everything right, they surely have my attention.

This year at E3, EA released a deeply inspirational trailer, displaying the amazing graphics and game play.

The details are downright stunning, and for the first time ever, leaving me wanting more. Now Madden has been getting a lot of criticism over the years, and they deserved it. For the passed couple of years, the only major changes in the game was the roster. Now, that angers many people, especially for the game costing $60.

So this year, EA has gotten it right and rebuilt the game, from the ground up.

Now check this out. Franchise is a significant role in the Madden series. For years, it has been the same ole boring thing. This year, it's different.

Everything is newer, cleaner, and better. The menu navigation is polished, the interface is fresh and cool, and it just looks like it is supposed to.

Now, I'm not going to regurgitate information off of IGN or the official website itself, mainly because readers want to see a response first-hand.

So, here I go.

Some things that really hit home for me is how Madden finally understands football. They have implemented a little thing into the game, named "Any given Sunday." This is not a mode or anything, it's just a highly appropriate phrase.

When you follow a team throughout all 16 weeks, your players surely are going to have games when they're really hot, and when they're really cold.

Madden finally understands this and has put this into the game, so let's take Chicago Bears QB Jake Cutler. Cutler is a pretty unpredictable guy; so you never know what to expect. This means one game, his rating will be a 85 and he'll look like a MVP, and the next game he's in a slump, with a rating of 76.

Totally possible, and accurate.

I'm very happy to see this in the game now, because as fun as it may be, I'm not a fan of Vick throwing for 6 TD's and racking up 500 yards each and every game.

Next in the franchise mode buffet comes the upgrade of the NFL Draft.

This is something in the offseason, many people just sim over, because it's boring. Now Madden has taken this into consideration, and makes me happy. No longer will you draft just random guys that all turn out to be 3rd string players.

Now, you can get a combine rating, stats, and actually see the player you are drafting from the NCAA. Finally.

Speaking of the draft and rookies, check this out: EA did a lot of research and wants to make you feel like the coach of the team. So, say you have a pretty solid team, but the corner backs are getting old.

Well, okay, draft a corner, but don't ruin his young career by throwing him to the wolves.

Now, if you sit a player for a season or two to be mentored, they will increase in rating and get smarter and better. Thank you.

Remember custom play books? They're back, and looking pretty good. Not too much has been detailed on this yet, but there isn't really much needed to be described.

To sum this up, Madden has finally got what it takes to bring us the perfect feel of a Sunday. The authenticity is better than ever, and you'll feel like you're right there in the action.
