Edwin Rodriguez resigned this morning from his post as Marlins manager after a 1-17 skid that has seen the ballclub fall from being Wild Card leaders to NL East dwellers.
Bench coach Brandon Hyde has taken over temporarily as the Marlins interim manager, but general manager Larry Beinfest has said the Marlins will hire a new man who isn't currently with a major league team formally. According to various sources, former Marlins skipper Jack McKeon is an internal candidate for the interim job. The 80 year old former manager told the Miami Herald, he'd "have to check with his wife and see what she says. But, no question I could do it." Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports tweets that ESPN analyst and commentator Bobby Valentine is "under consideration." Such consideration would be for Valentine to take the job outright and not on interim basis. Buster Olney of ESPN tweets that Brandon Hyde is also a candidate. Given the circumstances, Hyde might be a last reserve for a team needing a spark.
