Derrick Williams NBA Draft Combine: Is He the Best Player in This Draft Class? Derrick Williams said at the 2011 NBA Draft Combine that if the Cleveland Cavaliers take him with the first overall pick in June's NBA draft, they will be choosing the most-NBA ready player in the draft, according to tucsoncitizen.com. Derrick Williams is certainly the best all-around player in this draft class. He's a versatile forward who can score from the outside and at the rim, but he can also play defense and is a tremendous rebounder. His offensive game is well polished, and he has shown the ability to improve his game each of the last few seasons. This season at Arizona, Williams improved his outside shooting a lot, which makes him difficult to defend at the perimeter with his quick first step off the dribble. Williams will make a more immediate impact than Kyrie Irving in year one, but the question for the Cavaliers is, will Irving have the better career? Cleveland is not pressured to win next season, so they can afford to allow Irving develop into a star.
