Chad Ford 2011 NBA Mock Draft Says Charlotte Bobcats Take Marcus Morris at No. 9 in Draft We haven't seen Michael Jordan and the Charlotte Bobcats have a ton of success drafting in recent seasons, and they hope to change that this year. In my opinion that means staying away from international prospects, but the Bobcats could easily go that direction. But if they want to improve quickly, and get players that can help that development, it will have to come from an experienced college player. Ford writes: The Bobcats haven't been the greatest drafters the past few years. Michael Jordan is determined to change that. The thinking in Charlotte is to not take big risks -- to go with a proven product and swing for a double instead of a home run. Morris, with his versatility, toughness and Kansas pedigree is a very good option. Klay Thompson, Chris Singleton and Jordan Hamilton are all in the mix here as well.
Morris brings exactly what they will need at this spot if they want to get instant production. Must Read: LeBron James Would Make a Bad Green Lantern? Morris is a 21-year old, 6'9" forward with great versatility, experience and toughness. He'll likely be a power forward first and foremost in the NBA, but offensively he can step out and cause bigger defenders to pull away from the basket and open things up. Klay Thompson would be a great shooting addition to this team; Chris Singleton would be a stellar defensive addition as the rest of his game develops and Jordan Hamilton is one of the fastest rising prospects in this draft. I think Tristan Thompson would also have to be an option for this team too simply because of his upside, but they really can't go wrong with Morris here.
