Barcelona Transfer Rumours Focus On A Young Striker Talent There are few teams in the world that have as much young talent as Barcelona, and the club is looking to add to that depth in the offseason. Barca has set its sights on striker Sergio Araujo, and is trying to beat out rival Real Madrid for his services. The winners of the Champions League have acted fast in an effort to bring him into the program. Per Goal.com: The 19-year-old is highly regarded in Argentina and his exploits have already reached Europe, where both Barca and Real Madrid are both thought to be interested parties.
Madrid have first option over a number of Boca's youngsters, including Araujo, as part of the €20 million deal (£17.7m) which took midfielder Fernando Gago to the Spanish capital club in 2006.
However, reports in Argentina suggest Barcelona are looking to pull out all stops to land the player and have already made an offer for the under-20 international.
It is believed the Spanish champions want to initially send the player to their B squad before slowly introducing him into their main ranks over the coming years.
Well things have certainly gotten interesting, haven't they? Adding Araujo would add a ton of depth to Barcelona's farm system and give the club someone to carry the future of the team. However, as the article states, Real Madrid has first option over some of Boca's young talent, and that is going to complicate things for Barca. Araujo is a top talent, and Barcelona is doing whatever it takes to land him, but if Real Madrid wants him, and it seems like they do, then it's going to be really hard for Barca to get him in town. It would be a tough loss, but it wouldn't be a crippling blow, it is Barcelona, after all.
