Avoiding Brett Favre-Ageddon: One Positive the NFL Lockout Has Given Fans
Monday, 06 June 2011

The NFL lockout is no doubt a gloomy cloud on a great piece of American culture—the NFL. It has been hard along the way for any fan to keep a positive attitude about their favorite team, myself included.

As I was going over all the horrible aspects of the NFL lockout, the optimism in me spurred up and I began thinking out of necessity, perhaps, about the positive pieces.

The first one that popped in my mind was the ongoing Brett Favre saga, from year to year.

With it being the offseason once again, this would be the time where all the speculation would start on whether or not he'll be coming back for his 21st season in the NFL. That number is just astonishing in itself. Now with the uncertainty of the NFL season we don't even need to worry about whether he is coming back.  It's been refreshing, right?

Favre has no doubt given the game of football a greatness that not many others have been able to achieve, but his indecisiveness over the recent years has left even his most devoted fans with little to celebrate.

Many have varying opinions on the scar that all of this "will he, won't he" has left on his legacy, but I believe that once his career is finally put to bed and he stops the debate of his retirement, the dust will settle and fans will once again be reminded of the ridiculous record setting seasons, child-like passion for the game, and overall NFL prominence that he gave us all for so many years.

Simply put, Favre do us a favor and rip the band aid off. It won't hurt so bad in two years, we promise.
