2011 Stanley Cup Finals: Manny Malhotra to Miss Game 1 for the Vancouver Canucks

It has been confirmed that the Vancouver Canucks will be without Manny Malhotra for at least the first game of the Stanley Cup, after the forward suffered an eye injury earlier this postseason.

Malhotra's absence is one that will not be directly felt on the stat sheet, but any Vancouver fan will tell you that the defensive specialist is an intricate part of the Canucks' success.

The gritty third line center is prolific in the faceoff circle and takes a ton of pressure off of the other Canucks' forwards and defenseman in the defensive zone. In addition, he plays a big role on the penalty kill.

The Canucks hope that Manny Malhotra will be able to return at some point during the 2011 Stanley Cup Finals
