2011 NBA Mock Draft Will Be Wizards to Solidify Young Squad
The Wizards get my my vote for the next budding team to astound with fresh young players. Their energy and talent level is there, they just need a couple of pieces and something to bring it all together.
While I have no idea what could be the glue to make them a playoff team; coaching, maturity and defense are all great guesses, I do have a guess on a missing piece.
The Wizards would do well to add a slick small forward on the wings that can contribute on both sides of the ball in the uptempo Wizards' way.
There are two players that will be bandied about for the next few weeks for the new-look Wizards. Jan Vesely and Kawhi Leonard should both be available come draft time for Washington.
Both will get the once over from their brass. Vesely and Leonard don't come without their fair share of question marks.
The Wizards may like the upside of Leonard, but may not be able to overlook what Vesely gives you right away. Jan can shoot up to the three-point line, and will certainly stretch the floor better than Leonard.
While I think Leonard has a higher ceiling, the Wizards may want some certainty to a young volatile roster. That's why I have the Czech notched as their selection.
Either one would round out a starting lineup that is but a step away from realizing the immense talent they have. This could be a playoff team as early as next season.
If they can get some physicality and production from the wing, I would bet my savings on it...all two dollars.
