Georgia Tech guard Iman Shumpert may have left the Yellow Jackets as a relative unknown on the 2011 NBA Draft landscape, but is quickly experiencing what ESPN Insider Chad Ford terms a “meteoric rise” up draft boards. Shumpert, a 6-6 combo guard, is rumored to be receiving looks as high as 13th overall to the Phoenix Suns and 17th overall to the New York Knicks. Additionally, the Minnesota Timberwolves at 20th overall and Denver Nuggets at 22nd overall are said to be interested in the former Yellow Jacket. The unexpected rise of Shumpert certainly reflects on mock draft boards. Ford has Shumpert going to the Knicks at 17, Draft Express has Shumpert going 23rd overall to the Houston Rockets and Sports Illustrated’s Sam Amick does not even have Shumpert listed as a first-round pick.
