2011 NBA Draft May See Boston College Guard Rising Into Round 1 On paper, Reggie Jackson doesn’t look much like a first-round prospect. The Boston College point guard posted an unspectacular combination of 18 points and 4.5 assists per game last season. Stats, however, don’t tell the whole story where Jackson is concerned. He’s got a seven-foot wingspan on a 6’3” frame, and NBA teams are as interested in his potential as a shutdown defender as they are in his passing skills. According to the Boston Herald, one unnamed executive claims that most NBA teams don’t even consider Jackson a prospect. At the same time, he acknowledges that some clubs think Jackson is “major league.” The Celtics, who need backcourt depth and know the value of defense, have been linked to Jackson. The Blazers could also benefit from Jackson’s athleticism behind trade-bait Andre Miller. Even so, the odds are pretty good that Jackson (whose health is a bit of a mystery after offseason knee surgery) slips into the second round. The Heat, Kings and Rockets would all make good landing spots for him, with Miami looking like the best bet at this stage.
